Dear nhs and a UK tax payers.
You'll always walk alone
Great timing, I've just posted this in another thread.
Another set of cvnts stealing from the very people who support them.
I hope they cancel the league now, just so they can't win the title.
Isn't Henderson coordinating a group of premier league captains to support NHS through a fund?
Doesn't matter.cthe football club that posted forty odd million pound profits and spent hundreds of millions on players has asked the tax payer to pay it's employees wages just because it can. Its immoral.
Makes my blood boil. Wages to be picked up by the state. Why I hate the premier big boys. And their utter greed. We’re all in this together my arse.
Plenty of companies out there who probably make more money will use exactly the same same scheme - I've just been furloughed through work so will also be thanking the tax payer for a month or two.
We are Liverpool: this means more furloughing.
I hoped this was the case anyway.
I'd take six months of lockdown if it meant they didn't win the league.
And don't think for one minute that the government won't be wanting this back with interest - it's not free money!
Two wrongs don't make a right. I know you're from Liverpool but you don't need to defend the club on this. What they've done is morally wrong and we all know it.
I've also been furloughed and it's because the company I work for simply can't afford to pay my wages without me working so I too will thank the tax payers. That doesn't mean that a company like Liverpool FC should do it simply because loopholes allow it
Not only Liverpool doing it - neither would I criticise Barnsley for doing it. This isn't free money and it will be paid back with interest .
Neither am I going to criticise them for using a scheme that's going to be paying my bills as well. Be slightly hypocritical of me !
No defending Liverpool here I’m afraid, how any big premier league football clubs are doing this is beyond me.
Benefits which this is are safety nets not loopholes. My opinion and it won't be changes. I appreciate you're welcome to yours though
I am and it's nothing to do with being from Liverpool - which I'm not anyway as I was born in Barnsley- just live here.
As I said I would not criticise Barnsley for doing this either - I'm just happy people will get money. Be interesting to see how much money they are actually losing bearing in mind they make a good million each home game plus all other revenue through ground tours, on site restaurant, conference facilities which we use regularly at great cost.
It will be paid back. By us plebs with austerity like you won't believe. But it's not a loan to the company, for them it is free money.
The difference from my perspective is that elite football has one set of employees earning on average £70k per week and another set on average wages. Premier league football clubs are behaving in a morally reprehensible manner in my opinion.
They have 30 odd staff on the wage bill that probably amount to 10s of Millions a month in wages. If you can afford to keep paying them I would say you should keep paying the non playing staff. If you need the government (tax payer) support to come through this I would say start by putting the playing staff on furlough.
I so hope this happens and the broadcasters demand a refund. **** the PL.
