Its a psychological need to be different from the pack at any cost. Most people are "belongers", HT falls into the category of "mismatcher". Part of his DNA. And not saying that harshly, just a matter of psychological profiling that some people seek similarity, while some are compelled to push away from similarity.

The problem with that is that he has two things against him. 1 he's popular. 2. He's from Barnsley. Two reasons he will be hated by a certain someone

Well i suppose the focus has to move now Connor and Sam have gone.

I was expecting a Roberts post at some point but that clearly changed the game.

Still. this board is active at least again lol

It's not Football Manager. He's not in sole charge.

I agree that the squad was light from the summer.

So has Hecky done better or worse than you expected this season?

I'm not just blaming him Redstar but questioning why he doesn't seem to be getting any of the blame. Our home record seems to have gone unnoticed but we've left so many points on the grass at oakwell through per tactics and lack of squad options.

Just look at our rivals. Carlos C's got all bases covered in that squad. Now i'm not talking about individual players at all but look at the mix. The only poor buy he got was Winnall when he was getting/ got Rhodes can't remember which came first.

For those talking about budgets. we are in and around a number of teams. This season i've heard Rotherham, Wigan Blackburn, Burton, Ipswich and PNE at times talk about bottom three budgets.

Unlike others though we've spent some money. I'd imagine well over the 2 Million pound mark plus the expensive loans maybe of James and Janko.

Wigan, Blackburn, Ipswich, Preston bottom three budget.

You really are having a laugh now.

Wigan got their last year of parachute payments for a start.

The wage bill at Ipswich and Blackburn will be at least twice ours. Probably more.

Preston are owned by the man who came tenth on the 2016 Times rich list!

Christ on a bike. Burtons will be the lowest. I imagine our and Rotherham's are likely to be similar, though we've had cash injection from sales and sell ons

I thought we could finish mid table. I think with the better recruitment we could have push on to challenge the top 6. Too many draws and losses to poor teams. Wigan, PNE, Ipswich, Bristol, Cardiff

As usual what you see and the facts differ.. The players we have had representing the club since 1 feb are clearly not good enough, Maybe one or two individually are, but as a unit, we are substandard to what is needed to keep the club in this division That's not opinion, its based on our results.
Not only do we need players in the summer.. but better than the ones we already have.

Wigan, who could offer Morsy enough dosh that he'd choose a relegation battle over the fringes of the playoffs? PNE, who will be paying Mcgeady and Beckford at least twice what our highest earner is on?

    Tha's a fruit loop

We have tbe lowest wage budget in the division. Analysis of success v spending show that wage budget in a season gives you a 79% success rate and over 5 years this goes up to 90%+

    We have overactived.

Transfer spending is almost meaningless in terms of success. However just to pick a random example Preston have just spent over 2 million quid on one 30 something player. You are comparing apples to turnips.

How can you say what the budget is compared to others. Lowest in the league. That's meaningless to say. If I was to guess I would say Burton will have the lowest.

Hecky said that ours is the lowest and I tend to believe him. Given that Burton have gone for experienced players to stay up this would back it up. Our transfer budget is bigger than their's but that is meaningless

We have operated with a bottom three budget.

So in budgetary terms we have overachieved.

Had everyone of a BFC persuasion been offered the season we've had back in August 2016 they'd have snapped it up.

Could it have been better? Yes.

    Worse? Oh yes.

And Hecky has done a marvellous job.

Let's see what the summer brings. I'm excited. Others can worry if they wish. Neither frame of mind will affect owt.

There are things that make it obvious.

To suggest we could have a bigger budget than Preston who have McGeady & Beckford or Blackburn who have Guthrie & Graham is ridiculous as is suggesting we have a bigger budget than Wigan who are receiving parachute payments & could offer more to Morsy than we could afford.

The evidence is there, we sign lads who can't get a game at other championship clubs like Elder or Morsy. Even when we sell our best players they aren't regular starters at other championship sides.

You use James & Janko as players who will be expensive loans. They won't be at all. The parent clubs will be paying most of their wages as they're seen as gambles coming off of long term injuries. Leicester & Celtic need James & Janko to play games for us in order to be able to get a decent transfer value when they sell them or if they do really well to be able to play for them next season.

No, I'm talking about at the beginning of the season.

It's ok having the hindsight of how well we did, mainly away from home until January, and then making these statements.

Before a ball was kicked, how did anyone know who was going to be poor this season?

I think that that if you were honest, you would have taken 57 points before a ball was kicked, and I don't think you should be trying to start criticising the manager.

Hecky has done a great job for a year, then circumstances (and we all knew January would weaken us) have made his job more difficult.

If the players were playing badly, or not trying then you might have a bit of a point, but they're just coming short in games, not getting hammered.

Wigan aren't receiving parachute payments I don't think. How do you know what Beckfords on. Or how much of the loan Preston are paying for McGeady. I think are guessing.

I think people are over-egging what others are paying for sure. Got to remember Barnsley possibly over paid for Hammill in the summer.
