There's been an accident between the same two junctions that were affected earlier. Folk rubbernecking no doubt.

I've just got back after drop offs.

1 detour on way down, and two on way back.

Left home at 2.10 and arrived at canons park at 7.55, missed first 20 minutes.

After breaking down and missing the playoff final, today comes a close second.

Being on our motorway network after 10pm is a god awful nightmare because of the way that they close roads at night for roadworks. I do it fairly regular and if you are on a lengthy cross country journey it is getting so that it is virtually inevitable that you will be diverted for a closure at some point.

I have had some frustrating nightmares over the years with em. I was diverted off the A1 just north of Peterborough a few weeks back and the detour was 35 miles! It went through a town that itself was snarled up with roadworks. How's that for planning!

Yep - our roads just arnt suitable for the numbers of people using them.
Try driving around the country on a regular basis and you'll see what I mean.
Some motorways on a regular basis now resemble car parks.

But how can we plan for better roads along with better NHS, schools, prisons, police force, housing etc if we allow for an open door immigration policy in this country?
If we improve all these things - is it going to make Britain less attractive to Europeans to move here?
    Of course not.
So you pay tax that is spent on these infrastructure projects - but gradually your quality of life goes backwards.
    Running - but sliding backwards.

This is one of main reasons I voted for Brexit.

Our motorways are a disgrace, the Department for Transport are a disgrace, the idiot drivers to blame for a lot of the "accidents" that cock up everyone else's plans and journies are a disgrace. I think the biggest disgrace are the gantries on the M1 with "60" on them on a Sunday afternoon/night that lie about there being an "incident", forcing people to slow down or pay a fine/get points. A pure money making project.

Driving home from Walsall in play off semi other year. A deserted M1 was 50 mph almost all way home.

    Got in at 2.50am.
    The motorway closures didn't help.
Neither did the driver missing a diversion sign at the 2nd closure and driving through Derby.
Neither did deciding to stop at the services when we finally got back on the motorway despite us being at JCT 28 by that time and almost home.
Then the cheeky twat had the cheek to moan when i asked if me and my lad could get off at the top of the slip road at dodworth, despite the fact he was going up the slip road and the lights were on red.
"im going to have to make loads of stops now" he complained
"youve already made a 20 minute stop that no one wanted" was my response

I was tired and wanted my bed :D

I'm getting tired of unadvertised motorway closures and the misuse of the signs on smart motorways. As a regular traveler up to Barnsley I can fully sympathize with you. I particularly liked one a few months ago where they closed the M1 - no advanced warning even on the overhead signs - after following a couple of diversion signs came to some lights with a sign for diverted traffic straight on and another one showing diverted traffic going left. Guessed the left hand one and never saw another sign. Didnt know how many junctions the motorway was closed and where I could get back on If I hadn't had Sat nav it would have been a right pain.
It took me an hour and a half to get home from getting in the car at Denham where I parked last night because the closed the M40 ( some warning on the way in would have been nice) and the M3 was down to 40 due to roadworks. -The journey should have taken half that time

Obviously you'll be disappointed when you find out that the levels of immigration are sustained after Brexit - only with people from the poorer, mainly muslim Commonwealth countries rather than Europe. We have too many old people and not enough workers and children joining the job market to support them to stop bringing in tax payers at the current levels. Given the relative costs and wages of non-EU immigrants, you'll probably find that the levels of immigration might actually increase.
