but of course NOT at Oakwell.
How do you know that work isn’t being undertaken behind the scenes? Just because nothing has been announced doesn’t mean that targets haven’t been identified, offers made, discussions had. It’s a long process and I imagine that we’re incredibly active. This reminds me of when the club were being slated for apparently being left behind in the search for a new manager despite great strides being made behind closed doors.
Your point is ?
Aye let's sign a bunch of players the head coach doesn't want. None of our precious head coaches have EVER moaned about that before.. rather take time and get it right than rush and end up playing Morecambe next year
Are you bored DT?
It's interesting though - our new coach has never even seen any of our current players play a game - I wonder if targets have been identified and they'll be run passed him once he starts? Or as per the plan he'll say which areas he needs to strengthen? so assuming he starts his job 1st July - how is he going to assess what positions we need to strengthen? Even after we've played a couple of friendlies he'll be not much more clued up as to how they perform in a real match situation. BTW, I agree it would seem silly to be signing players before he's started.
Which league one sides have signed guys?
I might be wrong , but I feel sure that our new HC & his coaching staff will have been given DVD"s of all last seasons games & will no doubt be giving them the once over , I know its not the same as working with the players but I feel sure they will be doing their homework
Firstly, I'm not having a pop here, but I am bit concerned about how our transfer dealings might unfold this summer. Just bear in mind that Daniel's contract doesn't begin until 1 July. It doesn't leave him much time to get some bodies through the door.
I understand our recruitment policy, and to an extent it's not a bad idea. I'm not wholly convinced about the spreadsheet, though. My main concern is that it just seems very long-winded and it might go a way in explaining why we seem to take longer than other clubs to bring players in and get deals done.
To be honest, I'd love it if Daniel had a few players in mind from the German leagues or anywhere else he has experience that he would like to bring in. Would that be allowed? I'm not sure.
Lol, thought so.
Thought contracts ran until the end of June?
Whilst DS doesn’t officially start until 1 July what else is he going to be doing in the interim period? I’d be incredibly surprised if he isn’t busy working away and identifying targets albeit in an unofficial capacity to ensure that he hits the ground running. It’s hardly like he’ll be refusing to name any potential signings if and when asked.
We all knew this type of thread was coming, we even took the piss last week asking what folk will be moaning about now we've confirmed a coach.
Didn't GG confirm yesterday that we didn't need many signings?
That's that then, club shop to get it next.
Here 6 mins 50 secs on.
How many players will we actually be signing over the summer? Obviously it’ll depend on which players leave but I’d guess possibly 4 or 5?
It’s going to be a loooong summer if the complaints over signings have started already.
I doubt even that many.
I prefer to hear absolute silence from the club regarding naming names on the transfer front. We had enough of the two French Lads being plastered all over twitter in January who then turned us down.
Given with how GG has said the club operates in the interview with radio sheffield with regards to recruiting players i wouldn't be surprised if Daniel hasn't given them a long list of names having reviewed the clips and footage of our games last season of players he thinks we could benefit from or would be good signings and the recruitment team and GG are compiling the data and the financial side of it all before going back to Daniel to say this is what we've worked out, what do you think?
Don't think Daniel will be starting on July 1st he's German they have a mentality that wants to win, he will have started as soon as the ink was dry on his contract, he'll know every player at Oakwell and how they play he will have watched every video posible and he will have players in mined who can help our course.
Poor bugger if he sat and watched all that carp
